We’re back with another podcast recap, and on this week’s episode, we had the pleasure of hosting the incredibly talented Erica Spera. You might know her as the co-host of both the “Finding Mr. Height” and “Shooters Gotta Shoot” podcasts, both of which bring a fresh and honest perspective to the complexities of modern dating. Or, from the standup comedy realm but either way, to know her is to most probably laugh your ass off while loving her.

We started our discussion with her approach to creating comedy and the themes that resonate with her the most, along with her favourite comedians and the difference between the social media stars of today, and the true artists at their craft. We also chatted about dispelling common misconceptions surrounding herpes and normalizing the conversation around STD’s and STI’s, along with the unique influence that herpes has had on Erica’s dating journey. Along with how running a support group for people in NYC has helped educate the masses, while bringing calm and truth to her own story. And emphasising the importance of a strong support network in all walks of life.

Lesson’s I learnt along the way ? We all know the drill by now, so many. But perhaps most poignant for me was the way she navigated sensitive subjects, like her diagnosis with Herpes, all while maintaining such a positive, hilarious and educational tone. But also so in awe of her candid, no bullshit and empowering presence when talking about the world of dating and relationships.
